Happy Holidays!!

This time of year is my FAVORITE! I love every part of it, the movies, the music on every station, colder weather (if only the cold would come in and stay instead of it going back up to be 75 today), and of course all the decorations.

I actually enjoy turning on my TV during this season, almost every channel will have on a Christmas show and I watch them all day (even the cheesey lifetime ones) Someone asked me what my favorite movie was, but there are way too many Holiday greats (Elf, White Christmas, Fred Clause, The Santa Clause) but I can narrow it down to two, although it was really tough!!

My family kicks off the Christmas season right after we finish our Thanksgiving lunch by watching....

And we do this every single year....and we all quote the entire movie...every year!!

My second top choice for movie is one that would come on TV every year and I really really wanted one of the magic lollipops that the elf took to town....

I finally got my house finished, and yes I started a little earlier than normal...(before Thanksgiving).

No fireplace, No problem!

Happy tree with presents starting to pile underneath!

Just need snow on the ground and a fire and I'll be a happy girl!!

Hope you all have a happy holiday season! I'm excited to get to have several Christmas' my family is so large that it is nearly impossible to get us all together at one time....why not extend this happy season :)

Claim to Fame

I recently briefly met and took pictures of John Luke Robertson, Mrs. Kay, and Uncle Si when I went to Nascar last weekend....

Well I posted this picture of John Luke and tagged him in it on Instagram......

Afterwards I looked down at my phone and had a notification from Instagram that said.......

Thats right!! Boss Hogs Son a.k.a. John Luke Robertson is following my Instagram...

So there it is...my claim to fame....HAPPY FRIDAY!

Vroom Vroom.....

This past weekend I was invited to go to my first ever Nascar race at Texas Motor Speedway.  Now I know absolutely nothing about Nascar, so my brother decided for me who I was to cheer for....#88 Dale Jr.  And I did so diligently!! At one point when there was only 4 laps left he was in 4th....but then Jeff Gordon caused Kacey Kahne (Jill's favorite) to hit the wall and after the restart Jr. fell quickly. Jimmie Johnson won overall. (No I have no idea what I'm talking about....but it sounded good right?)

Over all it was really fun and though I probably won't become an avid Nascar fan....I would without a doubt go to another race!!

And the highlight of the entire trip.....I got to meet Uncle Si, Mrs. Kay, and John Luke Robertson of DUCK DYNASTY!!!!! How cool is that!!!!

Saw this in the parking lot of our hotel as we were leaving for the race...I had to point out the vice grips holding up the antenna.

Thank you Dana, for an awesome weekend!
Hope you all had a great weekend!!!

This That and Then Some

Nothing major happening around Waco these past few weeks, just a little of this and little of that.  My cousin Shyanne (who also blogs) said that she is a better blogger when she has pictures. And I have to agree that's when I feel like I have something to blog.

I did go to the Heart of Texas Rodeo( I LOVE rodeos!) and in true crazy fashion, I rode the mechanical bull!  But we had a serious talk with operator before I rode because I didn't want a "sissy" ride.  I told him I didn't want to just fall off, if I'm going to fall off I want to be launched.....those are my famous last words....

Beautiful parting gift from the rodeo!

We got to see Reckless Kelly and David Nail (my phone died before I could get a picture of David)

I traveled to Wall a while back to see my cousin from Sweetwater play against my other cousins' team (make sense?)

I can't believe Austin is a Junior!! He will always be "Munchkin" to me!

My brother turned 30 a few weeks ago also....that's right...3-0!!
Big celebration feast with him and my God-Father, who have birthday's close to each other!

And one of my co-workers introduced me to a cute little tea-party type shop where we had an amazing lunch and the BEST strawberry cake I've ever had!!

That's pretty much it for now, the next three weeks are going to be a whirl-wind of family, friends, weddings, and fun!!

Happy Friday Y'all!!

Justice League's First 5K

Saturday I participated in my first ever 5K!!  The weather was at 100% chance of precipitation and it not only rained, it poured!! But it was so much FUN! The rain kept it cool and I felt like a little kid playing in the rain again!

We did a little Zumba to get warmed up before we lined up at the gate....and apparently when you have really crazy pants on the photographer snaps awkward shots during Zumba.

And we are off.....

.... less than 30 mins later I crossed the finish line!!!

It was a great experience and I am looking forward to the next one!!!

5K

I'm participating in my first 5K for Race for the Cure this weekend.  Race for the Cure hits close to home for me and I'm glad that I can have fun while doing my part to help out!

HDSM (my firm) is sponsoring our team and we got fun jerseys to wear!!

It is supposed to rain so we might be swimming rather than running so wish me luck!!!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Goodness!!!

Thanks to Pinterest I have discovered another new favorite dessert!

Crunchy Peanut Butter Cups......can you say YUM!

They are super easy to make and require no baking.  All you need is:

1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup peanut butter
3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup semisweet or milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup milk
Sea salt

Line a  muffin tin with papers (you could also use a mini muffin tin if you prefer).

In a microwave safe bowl, melt the butter & peanut butter together for 45 seconds.  Stir until smooth.  Add graham cracker crumbs and sugar and mix to combine.  Distribute mixture evenly between the prepared muffin cups.  Refrigerate for 15 minutes to set peanut butter layer.

After the peanut butter has chilled, combine chocolate and milk in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 25 second intervals until chocolate is just melted.  Stir until smooth.  Distribute chocolate evenly over the top of the peanut butter layer.

Sprinkle with sea salt and chill until firm, at least 30 minutes.  Store covered in the fridge.

My pictures don't do it justice!! I do recommend using mini muffin tins because these are so rich.
